My Dear Beth - Thanks for stopping by. Reva is Mom. You can go back from a picture with the back button at the top of your browser. Don't know if I can link the pics back to the previous page but I'll give it a try. A wav file is a sound file. The extension associated with this type of file is .wav. The wavs on my Wav Files Page are sound clips from Movies and Television shows as well as a couple of other funny clips. You will love my memory-Bill Clinton.wav .Click on the link to the wav file and when asked by your computer to open from current location or save to disk, select open from current location, and click OK. The sound file will be sent to a temporary file in your computer and will probably open a media player (like Windows Media Player) and begin playing after the file loads. The larger files take longer to load and may seem choppy the first time through. After the first run they should play smoothly by clicking a play button on your media player. If you decide you want to keep a file just select save to disk, and you can store it on your computer. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Hey, Paul, addendum to last note--great job on your web site...good to see pictures of the ranch, an old white horse named Blondie, and a light blue 52 Chevy. It had no back seat so it could hold what band equipment we had back then. I managed to plug my guitar into the sound card of my new computer, and using Cooledit2000 demo made a couple of wave files, and then saved them to CD. I will send that to you as well, one is a jazzy version of "white christmas" you could put it on your site for the holidays! Hey Mike, I'm so glad you enjoyed my site. I am having a lot of fun with it. I was amazed at the quality of the Idaho pictures. Not bad for 36 year old 35mm slides. I scan the slides on my Hewlett Packard ScanJet ADF. It has a little gadget (technical term) that reflects light off a mirror to the back of the slide. I have many more to sort through. There are some great shots of Grandmas gardens. As you recall, Dad shot a lot of pictures over the years. Thanks Vance for the great photography! Keep checking back for more pictures. I've meant for a time to take a few minutes and share my thoughts and memories of Vance. Truly he was larger than life, and a great influence on me, as he and your Mom came to visit in the summers. I was so impressed by his quiet, smooth, "southern gentleman" manners. A bit of a departure from the Idaho farmers and ranchers that I was usually around. One year when Vance and Reva drove to Idaho, they stopped for a huge gopher tortise that was crossing the road in Kansas. Vance picked him up and put him in a box, and brought him along for me, and I enjoyed that beast for quite a few years. His favorite foods were lettuce and hamburger, and he created a lot of noise if we let him walk across the living room linoleum. No doubt we'd all be in trouble today doing that same thing, they are likely an endangered species. Vance would also bring fireworks that were purchased in states where rockets and roman candles and M80s were sold, and we'd take them to the sandhills for the best fireworks displays ever. It would seem that we have lost the ability to just sit and visit with friends and relatives, as much of time of Vance and Reva's vacations to Idaho was spent. There was always a trip to Yellowstone, to Island Park, to Kilgore, and to all of the Hillman uncles. Did I tell you about the story that Vic would have Vance tell? About the old fellow who would take a walk in the park each day, and would point his cane at the squirrel and say "bang!" One day the squirrel fell to the ground. The punch line was " So - the old gentleman turned around, and there stood a man with a smoking shotgun!" Vic just had to take Vance to everyone's home so they could hear him deliver that story in his beautiful southern accent. Nearly all of those folks are gone now, and we can only savor the memories of that magical time in the 50's and 60's, when there was no place on earth quite like the ranch on Egin Bench. I still remember when the summer was over, and Reva and Vance left for home, what an empty feeling it was.
